Starting University EEK

Well here I am, high school is finished, results are in and I am preparing to start my first year at University. WHAT HAVE I GOT MYSELF INTO!!! I feel like I spent the entirety of my life studying for this and now I actually have to do it. Like honestly! We have to work hard 24/7 at high school only to move on to more study which is more important and wait for it... you have to pay thousands of dollars for it?!!?!?? (Although luckily right now in New Zealand we get the first year free yay! But what am I going to do for the 4 years after that?!) In all honesty, I am actually pretty excited to start Uni (btw I'm studying Engineering and Commerce) but the enrollment and setting up of the whole thing is reeeaaalllyy confusing. You would think that they would try to make it as simple as possible to enrol and choose courses etc. but let me tell you, that is not the case! It took me a solid 3 hours to sort out my courses because I literally had no clue which ones I was meant to pi

Nail Polish Addict

Image
Okay, I have a confession to make. I am a nail polish addict. Right now it is the winter school holiday's here in New Zealand. The weather is always changing and I have a lot of free time on my hands (haha, literally). Recently I have been occupying myself with a few different things, but what I love to do the most is to paint my nails. I don't have a huge nail polish collection, just a few colours that I really love! But all I have been doing the past week is painting my nails. I swear I have had a new colour on my nails every few days. As soon as there is one small chip, which there is very often ( the downside of rowing), I will wipe it off and paint my nails the next colour I see.  I don't really know why I love to paint my nails so much. Maybe because it is so calming and satisfying, or maybe I am just bored and the chemical smell is getting to my brain. But either way, I just can't stop the joy I get from seeing a fresh set of nails painted

What It's Like When it is Summer in the Rest of the World!

Image
You may or may not know that I live in New Zealand and it is currently smack bang in the middle of winter. It is freezing and I am continuously chilled to the bone by the strong winds. As larger countries like US and UK are currently having their summer I always see many videos of YouTuber's showing the scenery and it makes me wish it was summer!  All of the Summer Essentials and Look books just make me want to sit on my lawn and sunbathe. But as this would result in hypothermia... I resist.  In those brief moments when the sun does come out life is amazing and I am instantly happy, but... I have realised in my life time that this is just a trick by the clouds to make you think it is safe do go out but actually a plot to make me get wet.  Of course I know that winter is not always bad that your attitude towards it may be the problem but when I see the sunny beaches and essentials, I can't help but wonder why I'm not sitting in the sun relaxing. If you liv

DIY: Lemon Honey Sugar Scrub

Image
Hi Everyone! First of all I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year and had a relaxing time with your friends and family. I love this time of year because everyone is happy! During the break I was stuck for gift ideas for my two sisters and as a student I don't have much money to spend on gifts. So I thought that instead I would make them something that they would really enjoy on a budget. I wanted to make something beauty related that isn't too difficult ( as my skills are very limited! ) so I decided on making a scrub. I made up this recipe with no idea if it would work or not and am quite pleased with the outcome! i hope you like it! You will need: 1 lemon 4 tbs Olive oil 1 cup Brown Sugar 3 tbs Honey 1 tbs water (optional) Equipment: - large mixing bowl - medium Mixing bowl -  a pastry brush - Spatula Step by Step Guide: 1. First squeeze your lemon into a the medium sized bowl and add the olive oil. 2. Mix the lemon j

The Truths of Living in the Southern Hemisphere in the Christmas Holidays!

As it is coming up to Christmas I have been looking back at past Christmas' and have come to realize that their are both perks and troubles of living in the Southern Hemisphere, specifically New Zealand, at Christmas time. I thought I would share 5 Perks and  5 Troubles with you! Perks 1. It's always warm.  In New Zealand December is almost the middle of summer which guarantees Christmas Day to be sunny and hot. I have never lived through any Christmas Day in New Zealand where it rains! This great weather is very helpful with celebrations! 2. Cold drinks are amazing!  When you have been sitting out in the sun for hours on end and are given a Coca-Cola straight from the chilly bin, your face will light up. When I was little the chilly bin also served as a fun game of who can keep there hand submerged for the longest. Even as I get older this is an intriguing game! 3. End of the school year In New Zealand Mid-December is the end of the school year. When

Taylor Swift 1989 Review

Image
Taylor Swift's new album 1989 has recently come out and now that I have had a little bit of time to listen to all of the songs I thought that I would share my thoughts with you. I have really enjoyed listening to all of the songs and I struggle to find one that I don't like. I love the sound of the music although different to her older albums I think that she has evolved with her music and it still suits her style.  Some of the songs that I am constantly singing in my head are - Wonderland, Wildest Dreams and Blank Space. They are all very catchy and both peaceful and exciting. I love Taylor Swift's music and this album is amazing.  Her newest music video for Blank Space is really well made and I like how in the video parts of the song lyrics are telling the story as if it has been made for the video. I really love this album and I think that it is one of her best. I hope that she goes on a 1989 tour  and comes to New Zealand because I would certai

Lush Cupcake Fresh Face Mask

Image
I have used this mask for quite a long time now and I can assure you that it is really great. The pot that it comes in is a bit on the small side but because of it's thick consistency, a little goes a long way. This face mask really makes my skin soft and cleansed. I put it on just before I hop into the bath so that it has enough time to work it's magic! The smell of this Cupcake face mask is absolutely amazing, it looks and smells like chocolate cupcake batter and I am always so tempted to eat it!  I really recommend this product if you have slightly oily skin like me or if you love the delicious smell of cupcakes. I use this face mask about once or twice a week and I really love it. The only downside is that when you take it off with a light coloured flannel it might stain it brown.   I bought this product at my local lush shop and so far it has lasted me about four months. It isn't too pricey and it is a really great product. I haven't tried many other fa
